Requirements for volunteering:

  • Complete an application/interview
  • Commit to at least one year of service
  • Be willing to work a minimum of 4 hours each week Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 12 p.m. or 12 p.m. – 4 p.m.
  • Successfully complete the orientation and training
  • Adhere to a uniform dress code

Volunteer Programs and Applications:

The Adult Volunteer Program is our year round program. This program is best suited for long-term volunteers that want to serve the hospital and its patients. Please print and complete the Adult Application and email it to  the Volunteer Coordinator.

The Junior Volunteer Summer Program is for high school students. Students must be 15 years of age and entering high school as a Freshman or Sophomore when beginning the program. This summer program offers two 4 week sessions; session one - June 8 to July 3 and session two - July 6 to July 31. Each session will require a minimum of one 4 hour shift each week for the entire four weeks. Junior Volunteer opportunities are by invitation only and will be filled on a first come first served basis.

Adult Program Application

Summer Junior Program Details

Commitment: Volunteer for at least one four hour shift on a weekly basis for the four week program session assigned and attend the mandatory Orientation. Shifts will be available Monday - Friday from 8 AM to Noon and Noon to 4 PM.

Interview: Volunteer Services will review and select candidates based on their applications and invite those qualified for an interview. A parent or guardian will be required to attend the interview and will be provided with information on the program. Please note that attending an interview does not guarantee program acceptance. Volunteer Services will make the final selections and notify candidates accepted by May 15, 2020.

Orientation: All potential volunteers who are accepted into the program must pass a background check and show proof of a negative 2020 TB skin test in order to be invited to attend the mandatory Orientation session in early June. During Orientation, volunteers will learn about Memorial Hermann Pearland Culture, hospital policies, rules and regulations, volunteer perks, etc. Volunteers will also be able to purchase their polo shirt ($33.19) as well as sign-up for their schedules.

Training: Program participants will receive training in their assigned placements on their first official day of volunteering.

Application Process: All potential volunteers who can meet the above commitment must send an email to the Volunteer Coordinator requesting an application. Applications will be accepted beginning March 1 through March 31 or until the program is full. Please note this program is highly competitive and closes very quickly.
